The user interface of Invent Upshot can be divided into four main parts :
Main interface
  1. The menu pager integrates :

    • The preview menu, like Microsoft® Office®, is available from a button-shaped orb at the top-left of the window.
    • A quick access toolbar 'QAT' lets you access to the main functions of the software
    • The main toolbar can be collapsed / expanded by clicking the button near the help picture. When the main toolbar is reduced, click on an available tab to temporarily display it or double-click on an available tab to expand it.
    • The application form can be minimized, maximized and closed with the standard buttons of Microsoft® Windows®.

    The main toolbar supplies the access to the main functions :

    • The network discovery allows you to collect all the assets connected on a network.
    • The administrator login allows you to indicate the name (format = domain\name) and the password of a user that can etablish remote connection.
    • The make inventories function allows you to realize multi-threaded inventories of all the checked assets in the networks treeview.
    • The import inventories function allows you to import standalone inventories in the networks treeview.
    • The view inventory function allows you to show the current inventory of the selected asset.
    • The compare inventories function allows you to build a grid with the selected data and the checked assets in the networks treeview.
    • The ping request function is used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network.
    • The open shared ressource function allows you to open the selected ressource (computer, shared folder or shared printer).
    • the shutdown & reboot function allows you to log off, shutdown, reboot or power off the checked computers in the networks treeview.
    • The browsing system button allows you to show the treeview of the exclusive "Search & Go".
    • The about button allows you to manage license and online updates.
    • The Help button allows you to show this help file.
    • The quit button allows you to exit the application. Invent Upshot lets you check 'save layout grids' (checked by default) in the confirmation window to automatically save the grids layout settings when closing.

  2. The left panel gives access to the differents trees and settings :

    • The networks treeview is the core of the application. Basically, it shows a hierarchical view of the networks.
    • The exclusive "Search & Go" browsing system of Invent Upshot expose all the tabs and groups available in the differents grids of the right panel.
    • You can modify the layout of the differents grids to more precisely analyze the data.
    • The invent treeview allows you to select systems items to be inventoried and specify the order in which they will be displayed.
    • The compare treeview allows you to build and edit graphical comparative data.
    • The visual settings tab allows you to manage the look of the application.

  3. The right panel displays in tabs an explorer-like of assets and the data collected in the inventories (grids and charts) :

  4. The status bar display several states of treeviews and grids :

    • The current date.
    • The current time.
    • The number of checked assets in the networks treeview.
    • The number of filtered items and total items of the current grid (right panel).
    • The creation time and release of :
      - The current folder in the networks treeview or,
      - The inventory displayed or,
      - The current profile of comparison.
